CAM Innovation is seeking a motivated and experienced Controls Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for designing and starting up controls systems for our machines. CAM Innovation is a family-owned, locally operated machinery manufacturer based in Hanover, PA. For over 100 years, we have designed and assembled custom machines for clients worldwide. Our clientele spans the railroad, mining, automotive, renewable energy, and aerospace industries. Our team members take great pride in the craftsmanship of our products. As our business grows, we need flexible, experienced team members committed to helping us develop and innovate CAM's products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Design control system for our machines from specifications provided by clients and our machine designers.
  • Select and size the electrical components to NEC, UL, and NFPA guidelines
  • Use SolidWorks to make layout drawings and electrical schematics
  • Finalize Bill of Materials, and component selection for purchasing and manufacturing departments.
  • Support clients and our service team with troubleshooting advice through phone, email, and visits.
  • Assist with installation of the controls on the machine and start-up of the machine in our factory
  • Set-up servo motor drives for coordinated motions.
  • Develop, monitor, and adjust project timelines to make sure all design work is completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Provide support to the manufacturing department during the building and installation process, ensuring machines are built according to design specifications.
  • Collaborate with the machine designers and with Manufacturing
  • Manage project documentation, ensuring compliance with company standards and client expectations.
  • Seek new technology to be applied to CAM’s products.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Demonstrated success in designing control and wiring systems.
  • A working knowledge of electrical controls and control circuits, including component wiring and the ability to size and select components. NEC guidelines are the standard; however, CSA, CE or other guidelines may be required where applicable (Note: CAM supplies machinery globally).
  • Experience with PLC’s and other control system & programming is helpful.
  • Ability to collaborate with other team members to carry out the orderly execution of a proposed project plan.
  • Willingness to travel to visit clients to review applications and support installations.

Education/Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in designing and installing control systems.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks.
  • Degree is helpful but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.

Salary : $70,000 - $85,000
