What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Professional Coder position at Calvert Internal Medicine Group?
Calvert Internal Medicine Group, a multi-specialty group practice located in southern Maryland, seeks an experienced Certified Professional Coder to join our business office. This position will review claims reports for our Specialty Providers and take action to resolve them in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Accountabilities.
- Retrieves and reviews ERAs and posts all payments and denials in patient account records.
- Enters data, posts transactions, and verifies the accuracy of input to reports generated by the practice management system.
- Processes billing to patients and third-party companies; maintains supporting documentation.
- Reconciles the daily e-super bill report.
- Refiles and prints claims as needed for insurance carriers.
- Researches and resolves unidentified payments as necessary.
- Processes claim corrections timely in accordance with departmental standard operating procedure.
- Posts and reconciles payments to the ledger daily.
Qualifications
- HS diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years previous experience working in healthcare billing office.
- Requires extensive knowledge of charge entry, modifiers, and insurance-specific coding requirements.
- Must be comfortable working in a high-volume environment.
- Attention to detail is a must.
