What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Officer: Part-time position at Calvary Albuquerque Inc?
The Safety Officer (SO) provides security for the church campus, visitors, staff, and students by maintaining a safe and secure environment. The SO responds to incidents, critical incidents, and when appropriate handles emergency response activities. The SO also provides training services to students, staff, and visitors at Calvary Church campuses as needed or directed. The SO will identify and evaluate security issues and provide quality solutions in order to maintain a safe and secure environment. Schedule is based on a 2029- hour swing shift work week with flexibility to change the schedule according to the needs of the church.
Requirements
Highly motivated and places God first.
Must be available and willing to work days, nights, and adjust schedule as needed to include some weekends. Regular shift hours are 1500-2100 with shift flexing between 1530-2130 or 1600-2200 dependent on church events.
Must attend Calvary Church.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must have a Valid Drivers license and clean driving record.
Must have High School Diploma/GED.
Must have at least 3 years of Law Enforcement, Firefighter, Military or Security Experience.
Must not have been arrested on any felony charges.
Must pass a background check.
No arrests for Crimes of Moral Turpitude in the last 20 years.
No DWIs or Domestic Violence arrests in the last 10 years.
Basic computer, PowerPoint presentation, and report writing knowledge and skills is a must.
Must have cell phone.
Must be courteous and willing to assist church members.
Must have ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
Must be proactive in support of the church and its beliefs, purpose, goals, policies and programs.
Must be flexible, self-motivated, detail oriented, and a problem solver able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously in a high-pressure atmosphere.
Must have excellent communication skills.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to understand and process all required paperwork and to communicate effectively with staff, students, and visitors.
Responsibilities:
Patrol premises regularly to maintain order and establish presence.
Observe for signs of crime or disorder and investigate disturbances.
Secure all exits, doors and windows after the end of operations and arm building alarms.
Respond to alarms by investigating and assessing the situation using cameras if feasible.
Provide assistance to people in need.
Check surveillance cameras periodically to identify disruptions or unlawful acts.
Take accurate notes of unusual occurrences.
Report in detail any suspicious incidents.
Complete all required reports.
Be CPR/First Aid certified within one year and respond to all medical emergencies.
Be able to verbally de-escalate a situation and utilize minimal use of force.
Comply with all policies and procedures set forth by the Safety and Security Director and Calvary Church Albuquerque.
SO position requires working at Calvary Osuna, Santa Fe, East Mountain, and Westside campuses as needed.
Work as a liaison with Police and Fire Departments on all emergencies.
Learn basic knowledge of camera software.
Perform all other related tasks and duties as assigned.
Physical requirements:
Must be physically fit and able to stand and walk for long hours at a time.
Sufficient stamina to perform all essential job functions and training (Defensive Tactics, Firearms) for a normal shift and up to a 16-hour shift in an emergency
Must be able to bend and lift 50 pounds.
Ability to walk the campus, climb stairs, and to assist or carry a disabled, ill, or injured person.
Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
Sufficient strength and flexibility for stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, carrying, and other movements.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional educational degrees or training certifications.
Bi-lingual.
Basic knowledge in presentations and being able to train staff and volunteers in applications related to safety and security related subjects such as: active shooter response, bomb threats, and verbal de-escalation, mitigation, and liability courses.
