Description Under supervision, performs invasive species removal and treatment, park maintenance, cave maintenance and general institutional cleaning, and park ranger work by means of manual labor and operation of powered equipment. Performs related duties as required. Examples of Duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

Other duties may be assigned. Performs invasive species control including identification and removal of undesired species. Operates a variety of powered equipment in carrying out these duties.

Trims trees, shrubs and perform other horticulture and gardening tasks Prepares required records and reports. Assists in cave restoration and maintenance work, such as excavating, basic masonry and construction using a variety of equipment and power tools. Constructs and maintains signs, boardwalks and small bridges.

Collect Park fees where necessary. Reports to proper authority about any problems regarding the operations of the park. Empties and cleans waste and trash containers.

Education and/or Experience Graduate from high school or G.E.D with training in natural resources and at least two years of natural resources-related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Associate's degree preferred. Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos

Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to persons of various age groups representing diverse backgrounds including visitors, employees of the County; and the general public. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Possession of a valid Wisconsin Driver's License. Other Skills and Abilities Ability to work effectively with the public. Ability to prepare accurate records.

Ability to perform heavy manual labor. Ability to work independently evenings and weekends. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job majority of work activity is performed outdoors. Employee is subject to cold, heat, wet, dust, noise, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. Employee is subject to hazards, which include radiant exposure (sunburn), occasionally to chemicals, and fumes or airborne particles.

Injury from hazards can be avoided by following described safety measures. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
