What are the responsibilities and job description for the PdM Technician position at Caltrol?
Hiring Range:
The hiring range for this position is $25 - $30/per hour. This is the pay scale range Caltrol reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of this posting. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and may vary based on geographic region, skills, qualifications, and experience of the candidate, along with the requirements of the position.
What you'll be doing:
- Perform vibration data collection and machinery diagnostics in support of customer PdM programs and reliability business initiatives.
- Support Predictive Maintenance (PdM) programs through data collection, customer interaction, visual inspections, detailed note taking, and utilization of required reliability hardware and software.
- Develop and maintain clear lines of communication with analysts and service managers on customer accounts, scheduling conflicts, and technical issues.
- Collaborate with customers and internal teams through phone consultations, on-site meetings, troubleshooting activities, and improvement opportunities.
- Operates hardware, tools and service truck with professionalism and safety in alignment with Caltrol policies and culture.
- Maintains daily time keeping and schedule in accordance with Caltrol service manager and/or internal teams’ requirements.
What we’re looking for:
- • High School Diploma or Equivalent Education
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in industrial mechanical, electrical, maintenance, and/or reliability
- Experience working with rotating equipment and/or mechanical aptitude in an industrial or shop environment.
- Must be able to work independently
- Microsoft Word/Excel and Acrobat
- Must be able to work from home, and have a high-speed internet service
- Acceptable driving record, as determined by company insurance and MVR
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with data collection equipment such as Emerson, Bentley, SKF
- PdM Technology Certifications (Category I, II, etc.)
- Experience in the maintenance and operation of rotating equipment in industrial or shop environments.

Work Environment/Schedule:
This job is performed primarily at home and at customer sites. When at home, the employee is responsible for setting the work environment to their needs. When on customer sites, the environments will vary. Sites can be loud, may be warm in summer or cold in winter, and may include both indoor and outdoor sites. Customer sites will require the use of Personal Protection Equipment, which will vary, but at a minimum will include safety shoes, gloves, hearing protection, and safety glasses (Provided by Caltrol).
Physical Demands:
Work is performed mostly in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Prolonged periods of sitting. A standing desk may be available if requested. Must have the ability to lift and carry small parcels, packages, and other items, to walk short distances, and drive a vehicle and/or fly to customer sites within the Caltrol territory. While on site, employee may need to climb or bend, and may occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
Travel:
70% of the job involves travel; most travel will occur within Northern California, or the larger Caltrol territory (CA, AZ, NV), including Bakersfield and the California Central Valley. Travel will require some overnight stays.
