Job Description And Duties

Under the supervision the Design Office Chief, a Senior Transportation Engineer, the Transportation Engineer (Civil) performs engineering work of varying complexity, involving problem analysis and development of technical reports, plans, specifications and estimates for the construction of transportation improvements. This technical work requires the use of computer applications, including word-processing, spreadsheet applications, and computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) systems.

If you meet MQs under Pattern II and require the TE Civil in-person written hurdle exam, DO NOT TAKE the TE Civil online exam prior to passing the written hurdle. Candidates who take the TE Civil online exam prior to passing the written hurdle may negatively impact their hiring eligibility. Special Requirements

• Appointment to Range D requires a valid Professional Engineering License (Civil) issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. For all other ranges, a PE license is not required.

The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) serves as documentation of each applicant’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. Discuss any constraints (spatial, budget, time, etc.) and hydraulic controls that spurred the need for a creative solution. Mention the software used to perform the analysis or the methodology used in performing the analysis that led to an innovative design.
• Cite an example of working in a team setting and explain your role and responsibility in completing the task assigned to the team. Adequately describe how the component specifically assigned to you was accomplished.
