Job Description And Duties
Under the general direction of the Office Chief the incumbent is responsible for the leadership of a multi-disciplinary team including but not limited to biological, cultural, CEQA/NEPA specialists who complete environmental compliance and permitting for projects/actions in the Office of Maintenance Environmental Division of Maintenance. As the Branch Chief, the incumbent is responsible for the accuracy and quality of a broad range of technical documents being prepared in their branch.
The Branch Chief ensures environmental technical reports, approvals and permits for projects are delivered within schedule and budget for the Office of Maintenance Environmental. Manages resource and regulatory agency approvals and permit determinations, negotiates permits and agreements for projects as applicable with federal, state and local laws, regulations and policies. Review of project Plans, Specifications and Estimates and ensures accurate permit amendments.
The Branch Chief works to coordinate management level interaction with local and regional agencies, federal and state resource agencies, elected officials, project stakeholders and the public on matters pertaining to project development and compliance with environmental laws, regulations and policies. Incumbents may be assigned lead responsibility for specific projects, program functions, or area of expertise. The incumbent will act as a mentor and supervisor to Environmental Scientists and Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialists), and may act as Office Chief, when designated, during the Chief's absence.
