Job Description And Duties

Under direction of the Office Chief of the Office of Traffic Safety & Engineering (OTSE), a Supervising Transportation Engineer, the incumbent, an Analyst II serves as the Traffic Safety Administrative Support Analyst in the OTSE. The incumbent performs journey-level and the most complex administrative duties in support of the OTSE. This includes, but is not limited to, monitoring resource allocations and expenditures, positions, workload standards, production reports, project priority status, equipment inventory control, A&E and service contracts, purchasing, acquisitions, training, and facilities.

The incumbent assists with performing reviews and analyzes collision reports for accuracy, makes corrections, and reports errors to Headquarters. Maintains traffic collision report files and logs; communicates with area Highway Patrol offices to obtain collision information. Maintains and updates the fatal and serious injury collision database. The incumbent participates in field reviews to gather roadway information in order to verify the accuracy of the highway database and obtains roadway information from local agencies. The incumbent is responsible for the administrative process of encroachment permits in the Caltrans Encroachment Permits System (CEPS), ensuring encroachment permit applications, closures and accounting are complete and accurate. The incumbent assists with performing all signing activities related to the LOGO and TODS Signing Programs and with general sign installation order requests and sign ordering.
