Job Description And Duties

Under the general supervision of the Procurement and Services Officer II, the Business Service Officer I, Supervisor is responsible for service and expense orders and purchases in accordance with the State Administration Manual and other guides. Develop standards, write plans and specifications on proposed purchase of materials, supplies and equipment, and determine whether incoming products and equipment meet these specifications. Initiate purchase estimates, supply and purchase orders and expedite delivery of items when necessary. Supervises the Business Services Assistant, Specialist, the Property Controller II, and an Office Technician, Typing.

Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires that each full-time employee receive a three (3) percent reduction in pay in exchange for five (5) hours of PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.

Working Conditions

The California State Prison – Los Angeles County (LAC) is in Lancaster, CA (Antelope Valley) – home to our State’s Poppy Flower. LAC is approximately forty-five (45) minutes North of Valencia, CA, which is home to Six Flags Magic Mountain and is approximately seventy-five (75) miles North from Downtown Los Angeles/ Hollywood.

Candidates new to CDCR are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
