CALMRA serves adults, age 18 years or older, with cognitive disabilities in Prince George’s and Montgomery County, Maryland. Many of the individuals we serve also have
physical disabilities. These individuals require 24-hour assistance in all areas of living; eating, bathing, dressing, transportation, etc. Individuals
live with one or two housemates and receive support from trained, paid, and caring staff. We also serve those who choose to live in their own homes but
need some support from staff through our Personal Supports program. CALMRA also operates a Senior Center in Laurel, MD to provide day services to seniors or
those with age-related disabilities, cognitive disabilities, and/or physical disabilities. Position Title: Community Living Supervisor/House Manager (CLS)
Supervised By: Program Administrator
Qualifications:
§ AA Degree or 60 semester hours in a related field of study or 15 semester hours and one year’s professional experience with persons with an intellectual disability or high school diploma with three years’ experience
§ Driver’s license and good driving record
§ Ability to drive a car/van.
Schedule: LIVE-IN POSITION - ROOM AND BOARD ARE PROVIDED 58.5 hours/week – Sunday night through Friday night or other hours as schedule dictates. Community Living Supervisor (CLS) is responsible to be “on duty” for the entire period. During the day, while residents are at work the CLS is “on call” but free to schedule personal activities as long as their supervisor is able to reach them if necessary and they work when needed. NO financial compensation is provided for sleep time
Program Planning:
- Gather and complete all assessments.
- Participate in all team meetings.
- Assist in IP planning, creating person centered plans that reflect an individual’s choices.
- Implement all plans as written.
- Participate in evaluation of all plans.
- Meet with consultants as directed.
- Meet with supervisor and other administrative staff as directed.
- Meet with resource coordinator as needed.
- Complete all data on time and accurately.
- Complete behavior management on time and accurately.
- Complete incident reports on time and accurately.
Household Management:
- Implement petty cash system according to procedures, guidelines.
- Oversee and document resident finances.
- Maintain cleanliness, attractiveness, comfort of home.
- Arrange for repairs on a timely basis.
- Supervise repair personnel on site.
- Ensure all household/resident bills are paid on time.
- Involve residents in the paying of bills as appropriate.
- Complete financial records on time, accurately.
- Complete budget sheets on time, accurately.
- Maintain any agency vehicle, submit mileage forms.
- Complete waiver attendance forms on time, accurately.
- Account for all of CALMRA funds allocated.
Supervision of Assistant, Relief and other P/T Counselors:
- Schedule staff as appropriate.
- Orient to forms, policies, procedures, schedule, home, equipment, and vehicle.
- Coach while assessing performance.
- Participate in screening and evaluation of assistant counselors in a timely manner.
- Ensure that the work environment is positive and maintain supportive positive rapport with house counselors.
- Provide on-going feedback to Counselors regarding their work performance.
- Conduct monthly staff meetings and individual supervision as needed.
- Ensure staff completes all DDA trainings and individual-related trainings in a timely manner.
Maintain Health and Safety Standards and Monitoring:
- Arrange and participate in all routine and emergency medical appointments in a timely manner, with accurate and thorough documentation.
- Assure accurate administration of medication and other health/mental health treatments.
- Assure nutritious menu planning and meal preparation.
- Encourage and instruct residents in good hygiene and personal practices.
- Conduct and record all fire safety procedures.
- Include residents in all of the above.
- Complete medication administration forms on time, accurately.
- Complete physicians order forms on time, accurately.
- Follow up and document all medical recommendations and referrals.
- Conduct and ensure proper lifting and transfers of residents. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Community Participation and Leisure Skill Development :
- Ensure frequent, consistent outings and activities based on individual interests.
- Ensure that residents dress appropriately and are properly groomed.
- Ensure the consistent use of generic community resources.
- Ensure that residents have opportunities to entertain friends, family at home.
- Ensure that residents are provided opportunities to participate in religious activities of their choice.
- Ensure that household maintains positive, friendly rapport with neighbors.
- Ensure that household and residents maintain appropriate contact with family members.
- Assist residents in developing appropriate at-home leisure activities.
- Complete monthly activity records on time, accurately.
- Provide an organized approach to activity planning.
- Ensure that each resident has opportunity to take vacation.
- Ensure that residents receive transportation assistance.
Communication:
- Develop an interactive, positive relationship with the individuals you work with.
- Develop an ongoing relationship with the individual’s family members. Provide family members with current information as they desire.
- Provide the resources to the individuals you are working with to develop relationships outside of their home.
- Communicate health/medical information promptly to team members as appropriate (day program, staff, families, therapists, etc.)
