Lead Engineer & Systems Architect

We’re searching for a hands-on technical leader eager to shape the foundation of a fast-moving startup. In this early-stage role, you’ll architect and build critical infrastructure and systems from the ground up. You’ll partner closely with the co-founders to define the company’s technological direction, establish best practices, and grow the engineering team from its earliest days. As we scale, you’ll mentor new team members, play an active role in product strategy, and have a path to evolve into a top-tier leadership position (e.g., CTO or Head of Engineering).

• Take the lead on architecture and system development across our core product and external integrations
  

• Drive backend and infrastructure initiatives, especially those that leverage our partnerships with Google Cloud and related platforms
  

• Deliver features end-to-end, including requirement gathering, implementation, QA, deployment, and success monitoring
  

• Lead hiring efforts, mentor team members, and embed healthy engineering practices like efficient code reviews, automation, and security first development
  

• Make key decisions around system scalability, performance optimization, and resilience
  

• Work across disciplines to define the company’s product roadmap and help prioritize technical investments aligned with growth
  

• Foster an engineering culture that is both ambitious and collaborative—you’ll help shape a workplace known for both strong tech and strong vibes
  

What You’ll Bring:

• 5–10 years of experience in software development, ideally including technical leadership and team management
  

• Deep fluency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript development, with hands-on experience in both React on the frontend and Node.js on the backend
  

• Strong background in designing distributed systems and cloud-native infrastructure, preferably through Google Cloud Platform
  

• Familiarity with DevOps principles and tools (CI/CD automation, observability, containerization, etc.)
  

• Proven success developing and scaling production-ready web applications
  

• Comfortable taking ownership in rapidly evolving, startup environments—able to make decisions with limited information and iterate fast
  

• Excellent communicator, capable of bridging gaps between engineers, founders, external partners, and non-technical stakeholders
  

Bonus Points For:

• Having worked in a pre-seed to Series A tech company
  

• Experience in legal tech, fintech, or other highly-regulated sectors
  

• Knowledge of enterprise-level compliance and security frameworks (think OAuth, SOC 2, GDPR)
  

• Willingness to crack a joke or two in Slack—dry wit or chaotic energy both welcome
