Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule freight pickups and deliveries using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine
- Utilize GPS and GIS technology to monitor vehicle locations, optimize routes, and improve delivery efficiency
- Manage inbound and outbound shipping & receiving processes, ensuring accuracy in data entry and documentation
- Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, customers, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems while maintaining excellent phone etiquette
- Track shipments using GPS, analyze transportation data for route improvements, and generate reports to support logistics planning
- Handle inquiries related to freight status, delivery schedules, or shipment issues with professionalism and clarity
- Maintain detailed logs of dispatch activities, incident reports, and shipment records in AS400 or similar systems
Qualifications
- Proven experience in dispatching within transportation or logistics environments; familiarity with 3PL (third-party logistics) is a plus
- Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret data from transportation management systems and GPS devices
- Excellent communication skills paired with professional phone etiquette for engaging with clients and drivers alike
- Proficiency in data entry, typing accuracy, and managing multi-line phone systems efficiently
- Knowledge of logistics software such as Oracle Transportation Management, SyteLine, or AS400 is highly desirable
- Basic understanding of supply chain principles, transportation planning, fleet management, shipping & receiving procedures
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
