Position: Human Resources Generalist
Reports to: Director of HR
Work Location: Pasadena, CA
Founded by a Doctor and a First Responder, Call the Car, is currently seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our team of exceptionally skilled and committed non-medical emergency transportation specialists. Since 2010, Call the Car has been dedicated to improving access to healthcare.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the general direction of the Director of Human Resources, this position is responsible for promoting and implementing human resource values by planning and managing human resources programs and directing staff training, counseling, and coaching staff. This individual will also provide administrative support to the human resources department function and associates in a wide variety of areas including recruitment, employee relations, policies & procedures, records retention, and retrieval, benefits administration, credentialing and training. The successful candidate will also be assigned other duties as needed by the Director of Human Resources.
RESPONSIBILITES/DUTIES INCLUDE BUT LIMITED TO:
· Support management by providing HR direction, guidance, and recommendation.
· Proactively assess needs for HR services and develop strategies to meet those needs.
· May need to manage, develop and maintain HR activities, policies and procedures.
· Responsible for recruitment, onboarding, off-boarding, new hire orientations, employee benefits, health and safety policies and affirmative action plans to ensure positive employee relations in keeping with Company objectives; i.e.
o Set the standard for onboarding, welcoming and introducing new employees to the Company to include implementing strategies that get new hires excited and ready to make a difference
o Manage open enrollment; provide information/tools so employees can make the right benefit and COBRA decisions for their situation
o Create an engaging health wellness program
o Serve as subject matter expert for company HRIS and ATS systems
o Take steps to guarantee the integrity of electronic employee files.
· Create and manage HR reports, dashboards and metrics to assist leadership in making educated business decisions.
· Create presentations and recommendations to management and leadership regarding new or existing HR Policies or Initiatives.
· Coach management to help to strengthen and/or develop their leadership skills while improving the culture and holding their teams accountable.
· Work with department leaders to identify the underlying causes of performance issues, determine the best solutions, monitor results and readdress as needed.
· Implement and execute performance reviews.
· Build and nurture strong internal and external relationships to get things done across all levels of the organization.
· Partner with business leaders to develop a thorough understanding of the requisite business model, the financial outlook and growth plans, organization’s core jobs and functions, workforce dynamics and competitive landscape of market factors.
· Champion initiatives focused on aligning our talent with our strategy: team development, performance management, employee engagement, talent acquisition, workforce planning, etc.
· Participate in HR organizations like SHRM and HRA to remain apprised of current trends, conditions and legislative changes and share these trends with the leadership team.
· Ensure fair and equitable application of compensation, hiring and supervisory activities as well as other HR and employee relations policies and practices.
· Conducts HR investigations and provide recommendations
· Manage termination and exit interviews
· Consult with legal counsel as appropriate
· Ensure compliance with federal, state and local legislation pertaining to personnel matters
· Maintains company organization charts
QUALIFICATIONS:
· 3 years of HR experience
· Proficiency with MS Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
· Exceptional Communication skills which include the ability to speak, write and listen in a manner that clarifies issues, promotes closure and delivers information in a clear and concise manner
· Exceptional conflict management skills and demonstrated emotional intelligence
· Experience with recruitment and onboarding
- Proven track record of coaching and developing supervisors
- Knowledgeable in federal, state, and local laws
· Demonstrated working knowledge with HRIS Systems (payroll, timekeeping, benefits, administration, employee reporting etc.) ADP highly preferred
- Skilled in planning, organizing, and prioritizing
- Skilled in exercising initiative, judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making
- Able to identify and resolve problems
- Able to multi-task in a fast pace environment
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree
- PHR (Professional in Human Resources) or SHRM-CP Certification
- Experience in call center or transportation industry and supporting between 150-300 employees
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to sit, stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods of time and push, pull, and lift at least 30 lbs
