Job description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Die and Tool Maker to join our manufacturing team. . This role is responsible for the design, build, repair, and maintenance of tooling, dies, fixtures, and gauges to support production operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically strong, and takes pride in precision work.
Responsibilities
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify dimensions against schematics and technical drawings.
- Read and interpret technical schematics, blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and electrical or mechanical schematics.
- Conduct fabrication tasks including welding, stamping press operations, assembly, and hand tool usage to complete tooling projects.
- Maintain detailed documentation of tooling designs, modifications, and repair records.
- Troubleshoot tooling issues during production runs to minimize downtime and ensure quality standards are met.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on design improvements and new tooling development for plastics injection molding or other manufacturing processes.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Die Maker or Tool Maker in a manufacturing environment.
- Journeyman Tool & Die Maker or equivalent experience a plus
- Experience with precision machining and tight tolerances
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming and operation including CNC lathe, CNC milling machine, and stamping presses.
- Ability to read complex schematics, blueprints, GD&T specifications, and electrical/mechanical diagrams.
- Experience with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other gauges.
- Excellent math skills with the ability to perform detailed calculations related to machining tolerances and dimensions.
