General Description
Maintains and services mechanical equipment, machinery, and components. Performs skilled repair services of mechanical, electrical, and building systems and equipment. The Mechanic Level 2 is proficient in specific areas of discipline and works under moderate supervision with responsible for daily, weekly and monthly upkeep and repairs of equipment and facility in a 24 hour a day 7 day a week bakery.
Duties And Responsibilities
Observe and diagnose equipment for repair
Conduct daily rounds and inspections to evaluate requests for repair
May complete boiler water testing
Conducts daily, weekly and monthly preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines
Follows all Good Manufacturing Practices
Ability to read and understand Standard Operating Procedures
Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts, reinstall new parts, and make repairs when necessary
Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear
Reassemble after completion of inspection
Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment
Operate newly repaired equipment to verify adequacy of repairs
Thoroughly cleans and adjust parts, equipment and machinery
Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance
Works with other mechanics on larger projects
Ability to meet strict deadlines.
Basic electrical knowledge
Prepares reports documenting work performed.
Promotes and works within safety, quality, and food safety procedures.
Follow instruction from manager/supervisor
Performs other related duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
Must be 18 years or older
Works well independently and with others
1-3 years experience as a maintenance mechanic in an industrial setting
Reading comprehension, mathematics and writing
