ABOUT INSIGHT SCHOOLS OF CALIFORNIA AND THE ACADEMIC ADVISOR POSITIONS:

Insight Schools of California (a network of three public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home based-instruction to students in grades 9-12 in California. Insight Schools of California serves at-risk students. We use K12, inc. as our curriculum provider for the basis of instruction and teachers provide live instruction via the Engageli platform. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are still required to maintain daily attendance, attend instructional sessions, and complete their coursework each day.

All teachers provide students additional help, individualized attention, and ongoing communication with learning coaches, and all attend professional development meetings (virtual and in person). Insight staff and teachers contribute to a positive school culture by engaging in meaningful team collaboration and focusing on the needs of all students. Teachers also meet with students during testing and at in-person events.

Academic Advisors work very closely with their homeroom caseload to ensure students are attending school daily, while also monitoring student academic success. Advisors act as their students’ first point of contact with the school and support their homerooms by establishing trusting relationships, offering various types of support when needed, and ensuring that students are all meeting enrollment requirements. Advisors work with students and families to ensure that they are oriented to the school upon enrollment, and maintain close contact function as the starting point of their students’ network of support.
