Position Purpose
The part-time hourly faculty provides the opportunity to teach in different areas of the MD program depending on availability and needs. The two main areas of teaching include Clinical Skills and small group learning.
Essential Functions
- Teach in clinical skills to medical students which includes providing constructive feedback on their performance.
- Assess students during clinical examinations (OSCE).
- Prepare for sessions. Session plans and the resources are sent by the Course Director in advance.
- Advise, mentor, and provide academic support to students.
- Participate in faculty development related to the Clinical Teaching Faculty program and other relevant curricular components.
- Facilitate weekly small-group meetings on clinical case-based discussions and/or sessions on public/population health, professionalism, and ethics.
- Other Duties as Assigned.
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO degree.
- Clinical experience
- Familiarity with regional standards of care
- Evidence of successful collaboration and interdisciplinary work in a medical education environment.
- Eligibility for appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor in the interdisciplinary Department of Medical Education.

Preferred Qualifications
- Specialty board certification and eligibility for a California medical license.
- Clinical experience.
- Experience in higher education, medical education, or university environment, policies and procedures as well as current trends in higher education.
- Experience with LCME accreditation process and requirements.
- Familiarity of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99). This law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.
