What are the responsibilities and job description for the Civil Rights Investigator/Deputy Title IX Coordinator position at California State University, Stanislaus?
The Civil Rights Investigator is responsible for conducting prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations into allegations of sexual misconduct, gender-based discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other civil rights violations under Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, and CSU Executive Orders. This role involves developing investigative plans, interviewing parties and witnesses, collecting and analyzing evidence, and preparing clear, well-documented reports with factual findings—all while ensuring due process and supporting a safe, equitable campus environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public policy, criminal justice, public administration or related field.
- Experience: Two years experience conducting impartial and thorough discrimination and/or retaliation investigations in the employment or higher education context, preparing detailed investigation reports; and working knowledge of Title IX and it’s implementing regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in public administration, public health, behavioral science, legal field or similar or Juris Doctorate.
- Three or more years of experience conducting civil rights investigations in a higher education environment.
- Three or more years of experience conducting Title IX, Title VII, and/or Student Conduct investigations.
- Completion of Title IX Investigator training.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Title IX, California employment and anti-discrimination laws.
- Familiarity with CSU policies related to workplace complaints and/or investigations.
Compensation & Benefits
- Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Anticipated salary will be $7,500 – $10,000 per month plus excellent paid benefits.
