Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. This is a temporary position to end on or before June 30, 2027, with a possibility of renewal on an annual basis if funds and/or program needs exist.

Department

The Project Rebound department within the Division of Academic Affairs supports the higher education and successful reintegration of the formerly incarcerated. We believe a successful university education leads to enhanced self-efficacy, civic engagement, and social and global awareness. It also enlarges the moral imagination and instills skills and habits that assist people in securing gainful employment and living meaningful, responsible lives. By making higher education more accessible and supporting formerly incarcerated students to excel in a course of study, Project Rebound constructs an alternative to the revolving door policy of mass incarceration. CSUF Project Rebound is one of the campus programs within the CSU Project Rebound Consortium. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Project Rebound Coordinator (Administrative Support Coordinator I). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to inclusivity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Project Rebound Coordinator provides administrative and operational coordination in support of Project Rebound. The Project Rebound Coordinator supports the monitoring and tracking of program expenditures and financial activity; prepares draft budget summaries and reports for review; coordinates documentation related to contract payments, stipends, travel, and purchasing; supports student employment and timekeeping processes; and assists with reporting and executive support functions. This position supports fiscal oversight and coordination, final fiscal approvals, and system transactions are completed by authorized personnel. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

High School diploma or the equivalent and two years of experience in general office, clerical or administrative support work or the equivalent. Training at a vocational school or full-time college education may be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis. Thorough, detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Thorough knowledge of office systems with the ability to use a range of technology, systems, and software packages. Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects. Ability to apply a variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures. Ability to perform standard business math including calculating ratios and percentages, tracking financial data, and making simple projections. Ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports. Ability to handle effectively a broad range of interpersonal contacts including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting budget tracking, purchasing, and contracts or financial documentation. Experience coordinating student employment or payroll processes, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), and experience in higher education or a public-sector environment. Familiarity with administrative systems and reporting requirements. Lived experience of incarceration and/or involvement in the criminal legal system is considered an asset.
