What is the NextGen Program?

The CDTFA NextGen Program is a summer cohort for civil service Student Assistants, offering you:
  • A supportive learning community with fellow students
  • Real responsibilities tied to your major or field of study
  • Firsthand exposure to how California administers taxes and fees
  • Professional development activities throughout the summer
  • Direct experience working with the teams shaping California’s tax programs
Students will be placed in one of CDTFA’s dynamic program areas, including:
  • Field Operations Division (FOD)
  • Business Tax and Fee Division (BTFD)
  • Processing Policy and Data Division (PPDD)
  • Financial Management Division (FMD)
  • Human Resources Bureau (HRB)

This is a non-testing classification, therefore anyone meeting the minimum qualifications listed on the classification specification may apply for this position. Special Requirements

Education:
  • Transcripts are required, and must be submitted with your application.
  • Students must be enrolled in an accredited college or university, and pursuing a field of study related to the work you'll support
  • Must maintain student status to continue employment
  • Student Assistants are paid hourly. Your starting salary range will be determined based off your academic progress and units completed

Requirement:
