Roles and Responsibilities
- Reviews and approves prescriptions to be filled by pharmacy technicians according to the State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
- Conducts Medication Assessment with patient medical information on all prescriptions.
- Performs final check of filled prescriptions to ensure order accuracy and timely delivery.
- Works with Director of Pharmacy or Pharmacist In Charge to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and company policy and procedures as they pertain to controlled substances and legend drugs.
- Works with Director of Pharmacy or Pharmacist In Charge to ensure that implementation of quality and cost containment strategies occurs on all dispensing and procurement activities.
- Provides clinical expertise by responding to drug related questions and concerns initiated by internal (Technicians, RNs) and external customers.
- Assessment of laboratory data and appropriate therapeutic drug ranges.
- Works with pharmacy management on other responsibilities, special projects, and initiatives as needed.
- Employees in staff positions will be required to successfully complete a competency verification plan upon hire and annually thereafter.
- The objective of the annual competency re-verification is to focus on familiarity and compliance with ContinuumRx policies and procedures and applicable federal, state and/or regulatory standards.
- Availability for assisting with On-Call responsibilities, as needed. ("Taking Call/Being On-Call")
- Accepts responsibility to act as the pharmacy leader in the absence of the Pharmacist in Charge.
- Complete understanding of confidentiality with respect to Company proprietary information as well as information concerning patient/client care; complying with all federal and state laws as apply to confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) and electronic protected health information (EPHI); and following HIPAA guidelines regarding readily identifiable protected health information.
Qualifications and Experience
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy
- Current, active and in good standing pharmacist license in the state of employment.
- Be able to communicate articulately
- Have good computer skills
- Be able to work well with a team. The pharmacist's role doesn't consist of independent work.
- Be able to multi-task effectively in a stressful environment.
- Demonstrate self-initiative in the workplace
