What are the responsibilities and job description for the Local Class A Driver w/Flatbed Experience position at CALIFORNIA SIERRA EXPRESS INC?
Job Summary:
Our Class A Drivers support the operations department in the performance of daily activities by completing pick-ups and deliveries of freight in a time-sensitive and professional manner. Please note that some early morning shifts may be required from time to time to meet customer receiving windows.
Class A Drivers maintain accurate, up-to-date records such as Vehicle Inspection Reports, daily manifests, and incident reports. The Class A Driver may be responsible to be present during loading and unloading freight in order to inspect the condition of cargo and report reporting damages or discrepancies.
California Sierra Express has been serving the air freight logistics industry for over 35 years. We operate six freight terminals in CA and one in Reno, NV. We're an overnight carrier serving international and domestic freight forwarders as a final mile Pick-Up and Delivery agent for shipments that travel around the globe.
You'll be joining a local team of over 60 people all committed to providing the best service possible to our customers who trust Cal Sierra to move their shipments on-time throughout the greater Bay area.

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Consistent attendance Mon - Fri. Additional weekend work is available, if desired.
- Complete assigned route in a timely manner. Route size can vary day to day and may require 10-12 hours to complete.
- Practice defensive driving principles and follow all company safety policies.
- Comply with all laws and regulations relating to driving, transporting and handling of freight including those issued by but limited to The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Department of Transportation (DOT).
- Comply with truck and trailer security requirements as outlined by the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA).
- Comply with safe work practices as required by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA)
- Comply with federal drug and alcohol regulations.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Must have previous experience hauling flatbed cargo.
- Must be at least 23 years of age.
- Minimum of two (2) years commercial driving experience.
- Clean DMV record (no serious moving violations in the past 5 years)
- Valid DOT Medical Examination Card.
- Ability to successfully pass a drug screen and TSA background check.
- Knowledge of DOT, FMSCA, federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations.
- Hazardous materials (HAZMAT) certification, preferred.
- Experience driving in adverse weather conditions, mountains, and chaining installation.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English; verbally and in writing.
Salary : $30 - $32
