California Private Teachers (CPT) is partnering with a wonderful private family in Palo Alto, CA to recruit a dynamic, passionate, and innovative Math Instructor for the family’s expanding homeschool program.

This role will focus on three students entering 3rd, 5th, and 7th grade in the 2026–2027 school year. It is an exceptional opportunity for an educator who enjoys designing engaging, personalized learning experiences and helping advanced students develop deep mathematical thinking, confidence, and curiosity.

The family has created a thoughtful, collaborative homeschool environment where educators are empowered to innovate, design curriculum, and create meaningful, real-world learning experiences.

About the Role

As the Private Math Instructor, you will lead mathematics instruction across all three students, designing and delivering highly individualized, differentiated curriculum based on each student’s proficiency and pace.

All three students are advanced learners, and instruction will be tailored to extend beyond grade-level standards, providing appropriate challenge, depth, and conceptual rigor.

While this role is primarily math-focused, the ability or interest in incorporating science or STEM-based enrichment (e.g., coding, robotics, project-based learning) is a bonus, but not required.

This is an established homeschool environment supported by a collaborative team of educators and tutors. Instruction is student-centered and designed to cultivate curiosity, confidence, and independent thinking.

Math Curriculum & Instructional Focus

The Private Math Instructor will build strong mathematical foundations while advancing students toward higher-level coursework such as pre-algebra, algebra, and beyond, based on readiness.

Teachers are encouraged to incorporate mathematical discourse, collaborative problem solving, and rich problem-based tasks to deepen understanding and engagement.

Science & Enrichment (Optional / Bonus)

While not a primary responsibility, candidates who have interest or experience in science may incorporate light science instruction or interdisciplinary STEAM enrichment, such as:

  • Hands-on experiments or investigations
  • Introductory coding or robotics
