We are currently seeking a highly organized Medical Assistant Supervisor to join our team at the San Francisco office.

The Medical Assistant Supervisor is able to perform all duties of the Medical Assistant and functions as the resource person to the staff. The supervisor helps ensure efficient patient flow, quality care during clinic hours by providing guidance and directing the work of staff within the clinic. The supervisor works as part of a health care team including physicians, PA's, patient services representatives, medical records and medical assistants to provide comprehensive care. This role will be responsible for credentialing of our healthcare professionals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Medical Assistant Supervisor is required to perform all duties of the Medical Assistant and functions as the direct manager to the Medical Assistant staff
  • Supervisor acts as a liaison between management and staff and a member of the management team, the Medical Assistant Supervisor evaluates coaches and guides staff performances along with providing indirect and direct patient care within the scope of their respective scope
  • Works closely with the Director and other members of the clinic management team to: Maintaining patient flow in clinic to a level that supports productivity standards and goals
  • Works to create standardized workflows when applicable for medical assistant work in an effort to streamline patient experience and improve efficiency for the MA workload
  • Communicates with appropriate personnel as necessary, to examine, revise and evaluate innerclinic processes to promote efficiency
  • Provides supervisory oversight for clinic medical support staff, including performance reviews, coaching and counseling, staff development, shift schedules, managing PTO requests, sick calls, and clinic medical support staff as needed regarding procedures, forms, and procedural change
  • Partners with the Director on the monthly staff meeting topics
  • Responsible for onboarding education and annual education of Medical Assistants
  • Demonstrates positive public relations image with team, peers, patients and visitors by presenting a positive, helpful attitude
  • Responsible for following up on inaccuracies made by the medical assistant in the electronic medical record
  • Work with medical assistant staff to set goals and manage to the Clinically Integrated Network’s quality metrics goals
  • Has working knowledge and location of policy and Procedure manuals
  • Maintains and supervises Medical Assistant support staff
  • Works to recruit and onboard new Medical Assistants on an as needed basis. The MA supervisor will work with the Director to match MA’s to service lines
  • Serve as the first point of contact for clinical staff regarding questions, escalations, and problem solving.
  • Develop and maintain staffing schedules and ensure proper coverage based on provider needs and patient volume.
  • Ensure all clinical rooms, equipment, and supplies are maintained and stocked according to clinic and safety standards.
  • Create, update, and maintain training materials, clinical protocols, and procedure manuals for Medical Assistants.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for clinical staff regarding questions, escalations, and problem solving.
  • Develop and maintain staffing schedules and ensure proper coverage based on provider needs and patient volume.
  • Ensure all clinical rooms, equipment, and supplies are maintained and stocked according to clinic and safety standards.
  • Coordinate initial credentialing, reverification and privileging for all physicians and physician assistants.
  • Prepare and submit applications to health plans, hospitals, and regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain accurate and uptodate credentialing files and documentation.
  • Track licensure, DEA registrations, malpractice coverage, and certifications to ensure timely renewals.
  • Track immunizations for all Physicians, Physician Assistants and staff
  • Ensure all sensitive provider information is stored securely and handled in compliance with HIPAA and other applicable privacy and security regulations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all credentialingrelated inquiries, audits, and verifications.
  • Follows all HIPAA standards, policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant (MA) or similar program (LPN, RN, EMT)
  • Minimum 3 years of medical assistant experience
  • Health clearances and immunization records required of all healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain certifications per state guidelines

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work is performed in a clinic and office setting. Ability to accurately type, write, and use general office equipment is necessary. Extensive telephone communication is required.
