Job Summary
The Events Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and executing schoolwide in-person events, field trips, and engagement opportunities for students and families in elementary, middle, and high school programs. This role is travel intensive and requires frequent, statewide travel throughout California. The Events Manager coordinates closely with school leaders, teachers, regional teams, vendors, families, and community partners to ensure events are organized, safe, compliant, and in line with the school's mission. The Events Manager position requires strong organization, independent judgment, effective project management skills, and the ability to oversee multiple concurrent projects. High-level communication between departments and the ability to work with minimal oversight are essential. Knowledge of California, including regional logistics and venues, is highly important. The start date for this position is August 3, 2026.
Requirements / Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Event Management, or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience considered. Minimum 3 years of professional event planning or event coordination experience required; 4 years preferred. Minimum 1 year of project management experience, including managing multiple concurrent timelines, budgets, or vendor contracts, preferred. Demonstrated experience planning and executing events in California, including venue sourcing, permitting, and vendor coordination in at least two distinct California regions. Experience developing standardized written communication materials (e.g., templates, registration communications, event notices) for distribution across multiple teams or locations. Experience coordinating logistics across multiple departments or stakeholder groups (e.g., leadership, operations, vendors, families) on a recurring basis. Proficiency with event or project tracking tools, spreadsheets, and virtual meeting platforms. Ability to travel within California on a regular basis, including occasional evenings, weekends, and overnight trips, estimated at [40% percent of work time]. Experience in K-12, charter, virtual school, or nonprofit education settings preferred, but not required. Community events planning experience preferred. Event planning certification (e.g., CMP, CSEP) preferred.
