The Attorney IV monitors, evaluates, and reports on the most difficult and sensitive California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) criminal and administrative investigations related to alleged employee sexual misconduct and the litigation of employee disciplinary actions. The Attorney IV monitors and evaluates the performances of CDCR’s Office of Internal Affairs (OIA) investigators, Office of Legal Affairs Employment Advocacy and Prosecution Team (EAPT) attorneys, and hiring authorities, including wardens. The Attorney IV performs OIG investigations or investigative activities concerning alleged CDCR employee sexual misconduct.

Telework is available!

This position is eligible for teleworking under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, but some in-office work may be required.


The designated Headquarters (HQ) for this position is in Kern County, and the selected candidate will be required to commute to their HQ office location as needed to meet operational needs. All commute expenses to the HQ location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

The Office of the Inspector General safeguards the integrity of the State’s correctional system by providing oversight and transparency through monitoring, reporting, and recommending improvements to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

The Office of the Inspector General is excluded from bargaining unit contracts.
