CalMU is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Institutional Data Analyst to support data quality, reporting accuracy, and performance monitoring across the university. Key Responsibilities
Establish Reliable Dashboards & Reporting Frameworks
- Build a clear, reliable, and measurable dashboard that consolidates key institutional metrics.
- Create the foundation for consistent, accurate reporting across all departments and systems.
- Develop the structure for an early-warning system that highlights trends, risks, and opportunities.
Daily Data Review & Quality Assurance
- Review and validate daily data submissions from all departments for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Identify discrepancies or missing information and coordinate with managers to correct them.
- Ensure aligned data definitions across CRM, SIS, LMS, HRIS, and marketing platforms.
Trend Monitoring & Early Detection
- Track performance trends, anomalies, and patterns across key indicators.
- Flag positive movement, areas of concern, and emerging risks with clear explanations.
OKR Tracking & Performance Monitoring
- Monitor department OKRs daily and verify the accuracy of progress updates.
- Identify slippage, delays, or outstanding items and escalate them promptly with supporting data.
Reporting & Insight Development
- Prepare concise daily reports summarizing wins, red flags, anomalies, and recommended next steps.
- Translate complex data into clear insights that support effective decision-making.
Data Standards & Process Improvement
- Help standardize reporting templates, data definitions, and calculation methods across teams.
- Promote strong data governance to ensure reliable and aligned reporting.
- Collaborate with managers to improve processes and strengthen institutional data practices.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.
- Strong proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets at an advanced level (pivot tables, lookups, INDEX/MATCH, data cleaning, reconciliations).
- Ability to analyze, validate, and reconcile large datasets with accuracy and consistency.
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise summaries and daily reports.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
- Ability to work fully on-site.
- Comfort using AI tools for analysis, verification, and quality checks in alignment with CalMu’s AI-First approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker Studio.
- Familiarity with CRM, SIS, LMS, or HRIS platforms (e.g., HubSpot, CampusVUE/Anthology, Moodle).
- Previous experience creating dashboards, KPI reports, or early-warning indicators.
- Exposure to OKR frameworks or cross-department performance tracking.
- Data analytics or reporting certifications such as Google Data Analytics, Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
Technical Skills
- Advanced spreadsheet skills (Excel/Sheets): pivot tables, formulas, lookups, data validation, and dataset cleanup.
- Ability to work across multiple systems and reconcile data between platforms.
- Comfort learning CRM, SIS, LMS, HRIS, and marketing tracking platforms quickly.
