Elementary Teacher Job Description
Position Length: Temporary until June (2025–2026 School Year)
Work Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00am -11:30am
Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Salary Range: $28-35 per hour

Reports To: Head of School (HOS);
Main Job Duties:
This is a part time position. The instructor will teach a small group of 2nd Graders ELA and Math each morning.
· Follow a yearly scope and sequence/annual plan.
· Prepare weekly lesson plans.
· Use diverse instructional aids, methods, and materials to support high student achievement.
· Develop and implement student evaluation plans.
· Ensure appropriate materials and tools are available for daily learning.
· Be prepared daily so that students can maximize learning time.
Instructional Expectations
· Clearly communicate objectives and relevance of each lesson.
· State and revisit learning objectives so students understand and work toward them.
· Ensure students understand their roles in the learning process.
· Demonstrate enthusiasm and command of subject matter.
· Use varied teaching strategies to support diverse learners.
· Reflect on and adjust instructional practices as needed.
· Set and maintain high expectations for student achievement.
· Teach culturally responsive lessons and promote appreciation for diversity.

Classroom Management

Supplemental Duties
· Offer constructive input on school-wide improvements.
· Perform additional duties related to school growth as assigned by the HOS.
· Pursue ongoing personal and professional development.
Health & Safety
· Promote and maintain school-wide safety practices.
· Follow health and safety protocols including emergency procedures.
· Report safety or health concerns to the HOS, Admissions Director, front office, and families as needed.
· Supervise students both on and off campus as required.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree (required)
· Master’s Degree (preferred)
· Valid CA or out-of-state teaching credential (preferred; preference given to credentialed candidates)
Experience & Expertise
· Strong content knowledge in relevant subject areas.
· Maturity and ability to lead student groups effectively.
· Experience teaching or supervising elementary-age children.
Employment Requirements
· Must pass a pre-employment background check (including references, criminal history, and legal work eligibility).
Physical Demands & Work Environment
· Must be able to stand, walk, talk, hear, sit, and use hands and arms to instruct and work with materials.
· Occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
· Lift/move up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and mount bulletin boards.
· Adequate vision to supervise students.
· Must be able to stand and move for long periods.
· Supervise students on-site and off-site.
· Respond quickly to emergencies and exercise sound judgment.
· Fully present and engaged each day.
· Attend after-hours events (e.g., meetings, open houses, showcases, Saturday events).
· Participate in staff development and parent meetings as needed.
