Job Summary
Activities will be directed by senior personnel on a daily basis. Duties are confined to computational projects and do not include lifting items more than 25 pounds or the necessity of travel.
Essential Job Duties
Model calibration steps in the SPHEREx data pipeline, working with SPHEREx staff. These duties include estimating the flat-field, zodiacal template response, and dark current based on sky observations over the mission life. Further calibration projects may begin when these complete, focusing on estimating other systematic errors that affect photometry. In addition, the applicant may participate in related research, including the estimation of SPHEREx redshifts from galaxy clustering including non-linear scales from numerical simulations.
Basic Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in physics or astronomy.
- Familiarity with computational and simulation tools.
- Experience with computational studies in astronomy.
