Job Description and Duties
Under the direction of a Public Safety Dispatch Supervisor I, operates radio consoles - transmits and receives radio traffic, documents information in VisiCAD or on cards; operates telephone equipment - receives, evaluates and documents telephone calls from 9-1-1 lines, call-boxes, allied agencies and non-emergency lines, makes appropriate outgoing calls; uses computer equipment - accesses information, enters and updates various data bases; monitors and utilizes communications related equipment; maintains related logs and files; uses maps and manuals to access information.

Working Conditions
VCC is located in the city of Ventura. Employee's utilize a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, INTERALK/AVTEC radio system, VESTA telephone system and are required to wear headsets.

This position requires the ability to type at a minimum speed designated on the Classification Specifications (link available in the minimum requirements section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed prior to being hired. VCC dispatches for Ventura and southern Santa Barbara counties. VCC is on a 3/12 AWW with seniority sign-ups.
The Ventura Communications Center dispatch employees receive an additional $300.00 recruitment and retention monthly pay differential. Part-time and intermittent employees shall receive a pro rata share of the monthly differential based on the total number of hours worked within the monthly pay period.
