Job Summary
California Heritage YouthBuild Academy is a mission-driven public charter high school in Redding. CHYBA serves students through WASC-accredited high school diploma and GED pathways while combining academic instruction with career technical education, workforce development, and individualized student support. CHYBA is seeking a highly organized, hands-on Fiscal Operations Manager to strengthen organization-wide fiscal operations and ensure that financial records, supporting documentation, and required submissions are accurate, complete, timely, and audit-ready. Under the direction of the Chief Business Official, the position is responsible for grant and facilities accounting, account reconciliation, payroll and position-allocation tracking, reimbursement support, fiscal deadline management, year-end closing support, and cross-program fiscal coordination. The Fiscal Operations Manager works closely with the Facilities and Grants Program Specialist, who retains responsibility for grant and facilities strategy, project direction, program deliverables, substantive compliance, and agency and partner relationships. The position also coordinates with program-specific fiscal staff, who retain responsibility for preparing and maintaining their assigned reimbursement, procurement, payroll-allocation, and grant files. The Chief Business Official retains final fiscal authority, expenditure approval, financial reporting, internal controls, and Board communication. The successful candidate will build reliable systems, organize competing priorities, identify missing information, and follow critical fiscal work through to completion. Position open until filled. Applications received by July 27, 2026, will receive first consideration. CHYBA may review applications and begin scheduling interviews as applications are received.
Requirements / Qualifications
Supplemental Questions Please upload responses to all CHYBA supplemental questions. Use specific examples and clearly describe your own responsibilities rather than the work of the overall team. 1. Education and experience: Describe your education, training, and progressively responsible experience in accounting, finance, payroll, grant accounting, school business, nonprofit finance, or facilities accounting. Identify the accounting functions you have performed independently. 2. Reconciliation and accuracy: Describe a specific instance in which you reconciled financial, payroll, grant, or project records and discovered an error, discrepancy, or missing documentation. What did you do, and what was the result? 3. Grants and facilities: Describe your experience with restricted funding, reimbursement-based grants, federal or state grants, audit documentation, procurement records, facilities projects, construction-in-progress, or capital accounting. Clearly distinguish direct experience from supporting experience. 4. Deadline scenario: A major reimbursement is due in three business days, but payroll allocations, invoices, and required approvals are incomplete or inconsistent. Explain how you would organize the work, obtain missing information, document unresolved issues, and escalate matters requiring CBO or administrative approval. 5. Role coordination: This position works under the CBO, coordinates fiscal documentation with the Facilities and Grants Program Specialist, and works alongside program-specific fiscal staff who maintain assigned grant and reimbursement files. How would you keep work moving, maintain accountability, and avoid duplicating or overstepping the responsibilities of others? 6. Availability and travel: Confirm that you can work primarily onsite in Redding and travel regularly among CHYBA administrative, school, WRTP, facilities, and project locations. State your earliest available start date.

Applicants qualifying through equivalent experience may instead upload documentation of relevant fiscal training, certifications, or coursework.)
- Driver's License Copy (Valid California driver’s license required due to regular travel between CHYBA locations.)
- Letter of Introduction (Please describe your interest in the position and your relevant accounting, grant, payroll, reimbursement, school-business, and facilities-accounting experience.)
- Letter(s) of Recommendation (Two current professional letters of recommendation, preferably from supervisors familiar with the applicant’s fiscal or accounting work. Letters dated within the past ten years preferred, with telephone numbers and email addresses)
- Resume (Current résumé describing relevant education and experience.)
