Summary Description
California Giant Berry Farms Sales Account Manager is responsible for delivering & coordinating seamless fruit sales at the highest price with the best return. Responsibilities include direct customer contact with exposure to a wide variety of accounts, and responsible for developing an appropriate level of communication with clients and internal team members to better understand and mitigate any issues the customers may face. The person in this position must be a highly motivated individual with excellent written and communication skills who is able to work in a fast-paced environment sending fruit to retailers, wholesalers, and food service. During the peak seasons this position is very fast paced and intense.
Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities
- 6:00 am start time year-round and some weekends/ holidays required
- Target and develop new customers and maintain existing customers
- Provide pricing for ads, promos, weekly open market pricing
- Manages Trade accounts receivable and adjustment processes
- Sell berries daily to avoid carryover/inventory
- Create and maintain relationships with customers to better understand and achieve their needs
- Make visits to our customers to identify opportunities for growth within our platform
- Effective communication skills to ensure proactive and effective collaborations
- High level of customer service with a "can do" positive attitude – easily approachable
- Works in unison with leadership and sales team to achieve department and company goals
- Able to share responsibilities and collaborate in a service-oriented team environment
- Ability to work with tight deadlines in an ever-changing environment
- Simultaneously manage multiple tasks and report to multiple people
- Ability to listen to surrounding sales “chatter” to pick up on information relevant to own job – While working on computer & telephone
- Strong knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Famous, I-trade, Food link and PowerPoint
- Excellent interpersonal skills with all levels of management and external customers
- Support to Commodity Manager as needed
- Other duties assigned
Qualifications
- Previous account management experience
- Accurate Assessment of Market (Supply & Demand) both movement and pricing
- Budgeting, Planning, and Goal Setting
- Willingness and ability to travel
- Ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time
- Must be able to maintain a valid California Driver’s License with the ability to be insured under company sponsored liability coverage
Preferred Qualifications
- 4-year college degree (BS or BA)
- 3-5 years’ experience in Sales
- Knowledge of System Software (Famous or similar)
- Bilingual
- Farming, Packing, Shipping, and Buying/Sales Experience
Physical Requirements
Job requires ability to sit for long periods of time to perform duties. Also required is the ability to walk around and make inquiries from other staff, management, etc. Must be able to bend or stoop down to access file cabinets including lifting of items or objects up to 10 pounds.
