Summary Description
This employee will work directly with the California Giant Berry Farms Food Safety Department under the Food Safety Manager to fulfill third party audit requirements for facility & growing operations in multiple regions. Assist and manage food safety relations throughout the season.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement inspection program with defined timelines for growing and facility audit seasons, including pre-plant, pre-harvest, pre-audit, audit participation and post-audit corrective actions
- Assist in audit preparation, scheduling, participation, and follow-up for growing operations and facilities.
- Enforce company food safety policies and monitor compliance status across all operations
- Conduct and review audit results and validate on certifying portals.
- Support operations with corrective action plans in response to audit findings.
- Conduct testing for water sources and berries throughout the season to ensure compliance with AG water and MRL requirements.
- Document all inspections for all designated regions utilizing specific software
- Maintain records of audit and food safety meetings with growers and facilities
- Assess food safety programs of existing grower’s including sanitation, harvests, and cultural practices.
- Identify areas of improvement and provide practical recommendations.
- Complete harvest crew inspection during ranch visits.
- Enforce GMPs in cooler and packing house operations, in collaboration with cooler managers.
- Assess facilities against Primus GFSI module standards
- Assist in the collection swab samples as directed by the Environmental Sampling Plan and ATP protocols.
- Participate in internal audits and inspection to assist with the development and maintenance of company-wide food safety manuals.
- Initiate third party audits, and assist in audit prep for growing operations and facilities
- Monitor corrective actions and compliance status at each operation to ensure certification.
- Serve as a food safety resource and share best practices for all affiliated operations in the region.
- Support related programs including traceability, mock recalls, and safety walkthroughs.
- Attend Food Safety related training courses.
- Continuously look for ways to improve sustainability practices in your daily work routine and seek opportunities to contribute to sustainability goals set by your organization.

Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- Minimum 4 years’ Food Safety experience within the agricultural industry
- Knowledge of Global GAP and/or GFSI Auditing Schemes, FSMA Produce Safety Rule/Preventative Controls for Human Food, GMPs and HACCP
- Auditing and training experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Computer literate (Microsoft suite, ERP, Adobe and AI)
- Must be able to work independently
- Detail-oriented
- Biliterate (English/Spanish)
- Travel to regional sites
- Valid Passport for International Travel
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Preferences
- AS Degree in food science or related field
- Preferred knowledge of berry commodities

Salary : $62,204 - $77,755
