Salary: $10,127.00 - $12,669.00 per month plus state pension plan.

California Energy Commission (CEC) is hiring a Gas Decarbonization Modeling Lead in the Fuels Analysis Branch of the Energy Assessments Division (EAD). The state classification for this opportunity is Electric Generation System Program Specialist I (EGSPS I). Our Gas Decarbonization Modeling Lead will utilize a background in fossil gas system operations, fossil gas rates, fossil gas markets, and modeling to provide expert consultative services on the feasibility, impact, and potential on a variety of operations, projects, and proposals.
EAD assesses California’s electricity, natural gas, petroleum, and transportation systems and trends to provide information to the state’s decision makers and the public. These assessments inform the development, and implementation, of energy policies that balance the need for adequate resources with economic, public health, safety, and environmental goals. The Fuels Analysis Branch has primary responsibility of evaluating alternatives for the state to transition away from fossil fuels.
** Telework option is available, but hired candidate must reside in California before starting.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Broad understanding of California’s natural gas system, its infrastructure, and the electricity generation and transmission system.
- Experience with natural gas hydraulic modeling.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information in a simple consumer-friendly manner.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and perform independent tasks that contributed towards a shared goal.
