The School for Independent Learners (SIL) is seeking a part-time, in-person English teacher. The candidate must have a minimum of one year of teaching experience, preferably at the high-school level and above. They must be comfortable teaching at the minimum, College Prep 9th through 12th Grade English. Due to the demand, this position requires anywhere between 12 to 16 hours of teaching per week. This may fluctuate depending on enrollment and the teaching schedule is flexible to accommodate both students' families and teachers. A candidate who can also teach 8th Grade English, Honors, and AP level is a plus, but not necessary. We are a small, WASC-accredited private high school located in Los Altos, CA. Our academic environment provides our students with a safe, nurturing, and close-knit learning community that utilizes personally developed, UC-approved curriculum. Our instruction is primarily conducted in a one-to-one setting, allowing teachers to move at the pace of each individual student. All our classes are done real-time, majority in-person, with the few exceptions of virtual. Our teachers are dedicated to their craft, with the average tenure being 7 years. We provide a supportive and encouraging environment to teachers of all levels and backgrounds. The flexible nature of our school not only caters to students, but also teachers. In the past, several teachers have been able to pursue advanced degrees while concurrently remaining committed to their position here. We do not have the ability to assist in any personal move to the area nor can we sponsor any work visas.

Salary : $38 - $42
