The Radiologic Health Branch (RHB) is within the Division of Radiation Safety & Environmental Management of the Department of Public Health. The Branch enforces the laws and regulations designed to protect the public, radiation workers, and the environment. RHB is responsible for providing public health functions associated with administering a radiation control program. This includes licensing of radioactive materials, registration of X-ray-producing machines, certification of medical and industrial X-ray and radioactive material users, inspection of facilities using radiation, investigation of radiation incidents, and surveillance of radioactive contamination in the environment.

Job Description And Duties
This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by providing billing and renewal support for California’s licensed X-ray technologists, machine registrants, and radioactive materials license holders to ensure the health and safety of Californians from ionizing radiation.
The Supervising Program Technician II (Sup. PT II) supervises and monitors the workload of staff who review and process billing and payments for various programs managed by the Radiologic Health Branch (RHB). The Sup. PT II serves as a liaison, resolving complex billing issues with facilities, business owners, doctors, office managers, and other license and permit holders. The Sup. PT II plans, organizes, and directs workflow, provides quality control for data entries, and making recommendations to management on difficult assignments. The incumbent is also responsible for training new staff, assessing their competence regularly, and completing performance evaluations.
In July 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This program temporarily reduces employees’ monthly base pay in exchange for paid leave credits. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary ranges shown on this job posting do not reflect the salary reduction.
