Under the direction of the Information Technology Supervisor (IT Sup) II, the Information Technology Specialist (ITS) I performs a wide range of complex analytical and advanced technical activities. The ITS I performs the more responsible, varied, and difficult work of the Unit, and is assigned responsibilities, which requires independence of action. The ITS I typically acts as lead person on more complex assignments. The ITS I may function as a software testing lead, ensures new releases and enhancements to software developed and used by Department of Justice meets business requirements, technical specifications, and customer needs. Job functions include creates, and in some cases approves, test plans, schedules, methods, and approaches, coordinates with end-users for functional and user acceptance testing, and works with the technical, program, and administrative staff on software release configurations and processes.

Established 1/31/18, Pay Letters 18-04 and 18-05
Range A. This range shall apply to persons who do not meet the criteria for Range B or Range C.
Range B. This range shall apply to persons who meet the Minimum Qualifications for the classification and who have also completed two years of satisfactory additional experience performing duties equivalent to or higher than an Information Technology Specialist I.
Qualifications
Range C. This range shall apply to persons who meet the Minimum Qualifications for the classification and who have also completed four years of satisfactory additional experience performing duties equivalent to or higher than an Information Technology Specialist I.:
When the requirements for the criteria are met and upon recommendation of the appointing power, the employee shall receive a rate under the provisions of California Code of Regulations, title 2, section 599.676. Upon movement to Range C, the employee shall receive a rate under the provisions of California Code of Regulations, title 2, section 599.674 shall apply.
