Job Description And Duties
Under the general supervision of the Information Technology Manager I in the Enterprise Operations Support Branch, the Information Technology Specialist (ITS I) will provide high-quality technical support and customer service to Department of Justice (DOJ) end-users by ensuring that desktop systems, applications, and related hardware are functioning optimally. The duties of the ITS I include, but are not limited to Windows operating system image management, SCCM/Tanium deployment of desktop software, applications, updates and security patches, ITSM activities to support and ensure service levels, management of user accounts, permissions and security settings using SailPoint, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
The incumbent will possess advanced technical expertise and the knowledge to perform a wide variety of the more complex duties associated with supporting the desktop environment and ensuring security compliance for all DOJ desktop systems. The ITS I will participate in, coordinate and lead technical projects and assignments relative to the support and services offered by TSB. The incumbent will also act as a mentor by guiding less experienced staff in the performance of their duties as well as reviewing their work products for quality and compliance with Department standards.
Occasional travel may be required to provide onsite assistance to DOJ satellite offices throughout the state of California. In emergency instances, the incumbent could be placed “on call” throughout the duration of the incident.

ALTERNATE RANGE CRITERIA 484
Established 1/31/18, Pay Letters 18-04 and 18-05
Range A. This range shall apply to persons who do not meet the criteria for Range B or Range C.
Range B. This range shall apply to persons who meet the Minimum Qualifications for the classification and who have also completed two years of satisfactory additional experience performing duties equivalent to or higher than an Information Technology Specialist I.
Qualifications
Range C. This range shall apply to persons who meet the Minimum Qualifications for the classification and who have also completed four years of satisfactory additional experience performing duties equivalent to or higher than an Information Technology Specialist I.:
When the requirements for the criteria are met and upon recommendation of the appointing power, the employee shall receive a rate under the provisions of California Code of Regulations, title 2, section 599.676. Upon movement to Range C, the employee shall receive a rate under the provisions of California Code of Regulations, title 2, section 599.674 shall apply.
