Under general direction of the Supervisor II over the Performance Management (PM) Unit, the Supervisor I oversees a unit responsible for providing training and consultation services to Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) managers regarding employee performance. Through subordinate staff, the incumbent oversees and advises DIR managers in preventive and corrective actions and periodically personally assists developing adverse and administrative actions; consults and deliberates with program managers, Human Resources Office management, and Office of the Director – Legal Unit on performance management issues; reviews performance management and/or investigative materials and develops recommendations regarding the appropriate level of progressive discipline; and drafts and assists in the defense of notices of adverse action and notices of rejection during probation. The incumbent also assist in the gathering of materials in response to document requests via discovery and/or the Public Records Act (PRA) and develops and conducts training to managers regarding progressive discipline.

Working Conditions

- The incumbent works 40 hours per week in an office setting. Air-conditioned, High-rise building with elevator access. Cubicle with natural and artificial lighting.
- We offer a hybrid work schedule in accordance to DIR’s telework policy.
- The incumbent must be able to remain in a stationary position for a prolonged period of time using a computer to draft letters, other documents, research, email communication, and other purposes.
