DUTIES:
The California Department of Education (CDE), Charter Schools Division (Division) is seeking a motivated, analytical, and detail-oriented individual to join the Program and Policy Office!
Under the general supervision of the Education Administrator I of the Program and Policy Office, and working cooperatively throughout the CDE, the Education Programs Consultant duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Review appeals, including analysis of charter petitions and related materials for denial, non-renewal, or revocation
- Provide technical guidance and oversight support to charter schools and authorizers by interpreting charter law, addressing compliance issues, and collaborating with stakeholders
- Support implementation of statewide charter programs by reviewing trainings, communications, and contractor invoices, and assisting with monthly charter chats
- Review and support federally funded charter schools, including Public Charter Schools Grant Program recipients, STACS, and startups, ensuring alignments with CDE and SSPI positions DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience working with local educational agencies and other government agencies and organizations - Knowledge and understanding of educational program monitoring - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, completing all assignments accurately and thoroughly - Excellent communication, organizational, and writing skills as well as great attention to detail - Ability to work independently and as a team member CONTACT: Craig Heimbichner Email: Cheimbichner@cde.ca.gov 916-323-5759
