Job Description And Duties

This position will perform the statutorily required semi-annual monitoring of Enhanced Behavioral Support Homes (EBSH) and Community Crisis Homes (CCH), provide a review of program plans for EBSHs and CCHs, and assist in the certification and licensing process, and provide other behavioral expertise and support to the Department, provider staff, and regional center (RCs).

Working Conditions

Under Government Code 14200, this position is a hybrid, in-office/telework position, and may be subject to change. Incumbent can be required to report to the office, or any designated location at any time. Telework agreements can be modified and/or cancelled at any time. Incumbent must live and work in California. All commute expenses to the reporting location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

This position requires lawful authorization to work in the United States. The Department does not sponsor employment visas for this position.

The salary ranges listed do not include the 3% General Salary Increase effective July 1, 2025.

DDS now offers an entrance salary rate of $8432.00 for the classification.

Department Information

The California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities.

These disabilities include intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions. Services are provided through state-operated developmental centers and community facilities, and contracts with 21 nonprofit regional centers. The regional centers serve as a local resource to help find and access the services and supports available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

The DDS Is Located In a Modern, Sustainable And Innovative Office Building At 1215 “O” Street, Sacramento, California. Some Amenities Of The Building Include:

  • First floor retail space (separate access from 12 th Street)

  • Outdoor seating for meal breaks
  • Employee fitness center which includes a yoga studio, cardio equipment and weights

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Knowledge of: Principles of applied behavior analysis and ethical considerations regarding behavior modification, behavioral assessment and procedures to increase and decrease behavior and managing behavioral emergencies, basic types and characteristics of developmental disabilities, organizational structure of regional centers and State- operated facilities and the respective roles and responsibilities of staff, laws and regulations relevant to behavioral programming, which includes the use of restrictive procedures, methods of defining and measuring behavior, methods of collecting and displaying data, methods to promote behavioral generalization and maintenance.

Ability to : Develop cooperative and harmonious relationships with service providers, regional center staff and others. Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team model. Analyze situations accurately and take effective action. Communicate effectively. Analyze complex behavior and work with professional personnel to coordinate effective behavioral services.
