Summary
The Transportation Manager will oversee the operation of the Transportation Department which schedule the pickup of over 1,000 loads of raw milk from the farm and gets them distributed to our customers as ordered and what’s left distributed to all 6 CDI internal plants. Along with farm pick up we schedule the loadout and deliveries of all CDI’s by-product loads, i.e. condensed, cream, skim milk, permeate, UF Skim, fluid buttermilk, and condensed buttermilk. Daily collaboration with Supply Chain Management and Senior Leadership in order to keep all customers fully supplied and balance out our internal plant’s inventories based on current/specific production plans.
Essential Functions
- Oversees the coordination and routing of shipments.
- Directs dispatching and routing activities and tracks CDI owned and leased tankers.
- Directs the schedule of PM’s, DOT inspections, and repairs on Yard goats.
- Ensures that customer difficulties or problems are investigated and resolved.
- Track all maintenance, repair, and replacement of tanker equipment.
- Maintains knowledge of best practices including the most efficient and cost-effective shipping and or routing methods.
- Maintains knowledge of regulations related to milk transportation.
- In collaboration with other managers, develops and implements policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for transportation operations.
- Ensures compliance with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, environmental policies, and government regulations.
- Reviews and analyzes expenditures and other financial information; uses results to develop and implement plans, policies, and budgets.
- Responsible for overall milk and by-product mass balance throughout CDI’s system.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position oversees the Transportation Supervisor group.

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or a related field required or work equivalent experience.
- Must have dispatch experience in fluid manufacturing.
- Proficient written and spoken English.
- Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and follow-through skills.
