We are currently seeking a Laboratory Technician I with NW Cryobank in Missoula, Montana

Position Summary: Performs routine semen banking procedures by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintains demonstrated proficiency with all applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
- Performs semen analysis, intrauterine (IUI) and intracervical (ICI) insemination semen preparation, post-thaw analysis, leukocyte testing and morphology assessment.
- Reviews processing information that has been entered into system prior to posting the donations to ensure accuracy.
- Prepares blood, urine and culture swab specimens for transport to the reference laboratory.
- Performs routine cryogenic procedures including tank checks, vial transfers, quality control checks (verifying vial labels and number/type of vials), preparing dry shippers, maintaining dry shipper database, monitoring LN2 levels in storage tanks, receiving and distributing packages, entering returned vial transfers, and updating vial maps.
- Prepares semen vials, oocytes or embryos for shipment or storage.
- Conducts and accurately records all required quality control checks; takes corrective action as needed.
- Communicates any errors, accidents or incidents to the Branch/Laboratory Manager or Laboratory Supervisor.
- Verifies that routine cleaning and maintenance of laboratory equipment is performed.
- Verifies that inventory of laboratory and phlebotomy supplies is maintained.
- Complies with all regulatory, quality assurance, quality control, standard operating, and safety procedures.
- Participates in proficiency and competency assessments.
- Participates in motility studies.
- Participates in the review of standard operating procedures.
- Prepares media and performs parallel testing as required.
- Performs opening and closing duties.
- Provides back-up coverage for other NWC locations.
- May perform phlebotomy.
- Other duties and projects as required.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, or actively working towards one, in a health-care related field preferred
- One to two years’ lab experience required
- Phlebotomy experience/certification preferable.
