General Summary:
Under general supervision, handles all aspects of commercial real estate loan underwriting.
Principal Accountabilities (95%):
Monitors credit union’s commercial real estate portfolio risk through formal Term Loan Review:
- Determines documentation required for each loan.
- Analyzes client’s financials, credit and collateral.
- Establishes current value of collateral.
- Reassesses current risk grade.
- Writes formal loan reviews.
- Advises relationship manager if a forbearance is warranted.
- Reschedules a follow-up review date based on loan risk.
- Communicates with relationship manager, loan participant, and processor.
Underwrites credit union’s commercial real estate loans:
- Analyzes financials, credit and collateral.
- Provides relationship manager with initial assessment and additional due-diligence items.
- Completes analysis and prepares formal presentation.
- Communicates with relationship manager, loan participant and processor of decision.
Performs property evaluations:
- Researches and analyzes property data.
- Reviews current market conditions.
- Establishes value and writes formal property evaluation to be presented with supporting documents.
- Reviews annual property inspection reports as delivered by independent contractor.
Environment Report and Analysis:
- Reviews various environmental reports.
- Determines risk and additional of due diligence.
- Discusses findings with relationship manager to determine next steps.
- Performs additional due diligence based on a review of Environment Data Resources Collateral Screen Alerts.
Secondary Accountabilities (5%):
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Provides support to other areas of the department.
- Complies with BSA requirements as commensurate with position.
Position Requirement and Qualifications:
Abilities: Excellent abilities in analysis, problem-solving, detail-orientation, customer service, communication (verbal and written), organization, and time-management.
Knowledge, Education, Certifications, Licenses: Working knowledge real estate secured underwriting required. A four-year college degree in a related field or coursework/training preferred.
Experience: Minimum three years of work experience in a financial institution underwriting commercial or residential real estate loans to include loan review, loan analysis, property evaluation, environmental analysis or equivalent.
