The Rayko Studio Manager is responsible for evening and weekend supervision of the California College of the Arts Photography and Printmedia Studios at the Rayko Building in San Francisco. As a member of the Studio Operations team, the Rayko Studio Manager partners with area faculty, the Facilities Department, and the Public Safety Department to oversee studio safety and provide skilled support for studio courses and individual student projects. Knowledge of health and safety regulations as they apply to artistic materials is required. The Rayko Studio Manager possesses a strong working knowledge of 2D art processes and upholds best practices in a professional studio culture for all users.
The Rayko Studio Manager works with their colleagues to supervise a team of 10-12 studio monitors in order to create an open, accessible and safe learning environment and a positive studio community. Experience with a student population is key. Working collectively as a team member is crucial to the success of this position and the operation of the CCA Studios.
This has been approved as a full-time, 9.5 month, fixed term position.
The anticipated dates of the terms are August 15, 2022 to May 15, 2023 and August 1, 2023 to May 15, 2024.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
STUDIO OPERATIONS - 60%

Manages the operation of Rayko 2D studio facilities (Printmedia and Photography), including opening and closing procedures, and ensures a well-maintained and safe environment.
- Works with supervisor, colleagues, students and faculty to create a consistent and supportive studio culture.
- Responsible for implementing policies and procedures ensuring health, life, and safety in all studios.
ACADEMIC SUPPORT - 15%
- Provides support and information to students and faculty with studio processes.

Assist with coordinating and supporting large projects and their demands on the shops.

Oversight to ensure studio users' understanding of hazards in the studio environment and safe use of equipment and materials.
MANAGEMENT & ADMINISTRATION - 25%
- Supervises workstudy students; collaborates with Studio Manager team to ensure positive, productive, and consistent professional relationships with student workers.
- Actively communicates with colleagues to ensure essential studio tasks are being performed.
- Performs and documents maintenance and upkeep of studio equipment; communicates issues to colleagues and community.
- Monitors consumables inventory (eg. chemistry, paper, ink) and communicates these shortages to Photography SM and Printmedia SM.

Assists as needed in purchasing and procurement of studio materials.
- Provides access to the space by activating keycards for students, staff, and faculty
Non-Essential Job Function(s) - 10%

Offers technical oversight and back-up support for other CCA studios.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Professional Qualifications

BFA preferred.
- Minimum 3 years working experience.
Administrative & Management Experience

Confident using independent judgment in decision making.

Experience managing a team and working with students is preferred.

Proven success developing relationships across organizations.
- Developed organizational and task management skills; strong verbal and written communication skills.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills

Familiarity with a broad range of materials; proficiency in multiple approaches to making art will be expected.
- Knowledge of and commitment to health and safety as they apply to artistic materials and studio practice.

Familiarity using a variety of software applications. G Suite and Mac/Apple proficiency.
- Technical expertise in Analog Photography Processes, Digital Photography processes or Printmedia Processes.

A working knowledge of hand and power tools.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The compensation for the position is $32.00 per hour.
- CCA offers a comprehensive benefits package, including the choice of five medical plans, generous holiday, sick & vacation time, a retirement match and tuition remission. CCA covers an average of 91% of the medical plan cost for the employee only and an average of 82% for employees with dependents. POSITION DETAILS:

CCA considers a full-time work week to be 37.5 hours per week.

Schedule: Monday - Thursday 2 pm to 10 pm and Sundays from 11 am to 7 pm. This is a temporary position with an anticipated end date of May 15, 2024.

Work mode: campus based
- This position is covered under the staff union collective bargaining agreement and will be required to contribute to union dues/agency fees.
