Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP, a global leader in intellectual property law, is seeking a Director of AI to advance its enterprise AI strategy. This role focuses on translating AI capabilities into practical applications that improve law practice workflows, client delivery, and firm operations.
The Director of AI will shape and operationalize the firm’s AI roadmap – prioritizing where AI drives measurable value and ensuring solutions move from conception to adoption.
The role in action:
- Bring structure and discipline to how AI is prioritized, deployed and scaled across the firm
- Identify and advance high-value use cases, moving initiatives from experimentation to production-ready adoption
- Lead build-versus-buy decisions and manage external vendors to ensure alignment with firm strategy
- Define and track performance through KPI frameworks and ROI models, tying AI investment to measurable business outcomes
We are seeking candidates who:
- Brings significant experience leading AI or legal technology initiatives within professional services, with a track record of delivering solutions that improve how work gets done
- Has translated AI capabilities into real applications across law practice workflows, moving beyond pilots to adoption
- Understands the current AI landscape – tools models, and platforms – and can evaluate and apply them without needing to operate as a hands-on builder
- Measures outcomes in business terms, with experience defining KPIs tied to efficiency, cost, productivity or client impact
- Possess an advanced degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or related field; J.D or an Am Law 100/200 background a plus
Salary : $225,000 - $250,000
