What are the responsibilities and job description for the QA test Manager with Solid Banking and IOS/ Android -100% Remote position at Caliber Smart?
Position: QA Manager/Test Manager
Duration: 12 18 Months
Location:100% REMOTE
Must Have Skills
Senior hands-on QA/Test Automation Lead or QA Manager who still codes and
builds automation, rather than someone who only manages teams.
The candidate must be comfortable owning an ambiguous problem without being handed predefined test cases.
They should demonstrate strong product ownership, curiosity, and a customer-centric mindset, understanding not only whether a test passes but how customers actually use digital banking and onboarding flows.
Banking experience is valuable because it can accelerate domain ramp-up, but Scott indicated the domain can be learned through strong partnership with the Product Owners.
What will this person be doing on a day-to-day basis?:
Spend the initial weeks learning
the application, stakeholders, architecture, expected user flows, and current
testing gaps.
Assess the current state and
recommend the automation approach, tools, priority use cases, and roadmap.
Present the roadmap to
stakeholders, incorporate feedback, and secure alignment.
Design and code automated mobile
and web test cases and build a repeatable regression test suite for Nimbus
releases.
Run and maintain the suite as
Nimbus introduces new code, features, and fixes, identifying failures before
Product Owners have to perform extensive manual testing.
Partner with Product Owners to
understand expected functionality and customer behavior, and with the architect
for application architecture, data, and flow context.
Communicate defects and findings
clearly and, when necessary, interact with Nimbus.
Keep the regression suite current
as new features are added.
Nice to have: explore automating
defect creation into Nimbus JIRA, potentially leveraging the existing two-way
JIRA sync.
What are the main objectives for this role?:
functionality.
Must-have Requirements
Senior-level QA/test automation
experience with the ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
Strong test strategy skills. Must
be able to determine what should be tested, prioritize use cases, and create
the roadmap without being force-fed test cases.
Hands-on automation engineering.
This person must personally code and build the test suite, not simply lead or
manage QA resources.
Strong Selenium knowledge is the
leading tool preference. Experience with comparable mobile/web automation
platforms such as Perfecto or BrowserStack is relevant.
Mobile application and web
application testing experience.
Strong problem-solving, ownership,
and self-direction. Scott values someone who 'figures stuff out' and treats
product quality as their own responsibility.
Strong communication and
stakeholder skills across engineering, architecture, product, and potentially
Nimbus.
Customer-centric testing mindset.
Test cases should reflect real customer behavior and unexpected usage patterns,
not simply scripted happy paths.
Ability to ramp into digital
banking and digital onboarding domain knowledge. Prior banking/financial
services experience is a strong plus.
JIRA integration/automation; CI/CD and automated regression execution;
experience establishing QA automation from the ground up; background as a
hands-on QA/Test Manager or Test Automation Lead who combines strategy with
execution.
