District Family Engagement Coordinator
JOB GOAL:
To ensure effective involvement of families to support a partnership among the schools, parents and the community;
To improve student academic achievement to build families' capacity for becoming involved in improving their child's academic achievement;
To encourage families to be actively involved in their child's education at school, and
To be full partners in their child's education to explain parental choices and ensure families have information to make well-informed decisions for their children.
REPORTS TO: Chief Accountability Officer
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of instructional practices;
- Experience designing instructional plans for students and parents;
- Experience collaborating with families on assisting students instructionally;
- Ability to research implementation models for school reform initiatives;
- Leadership and problem-solving abilities;
- Decision making and organization skills;
- Ability to work with others in a cooperative and flexible manner;
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
- Accurate preparation, proofreading and managing of required reports in a timely manner;
- Exceptional customer service;
- Strong organizational skills,
- Ability to maintain confidentiality; and
- Ability to multitask.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide sound management of the day-to-day operations of Strong Connections family and community programs.
- Collaborate with school parent liaisons to develop family activities to increase student achievement.
- Facilitate the implementation of best practices for family engagement.
- Provide formal and informal feedback to Chief Accountability Officer regarding individual and program effectiveness.
- Serve as the key support resource for strategies for engaging families and federal requirements.
- Provide training on building parent capacity to increase student achievement.
- Develop strong formal community relationships to build capacity for families.
- Develop instructional materials for schools, students and parents.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 210 days. 1-year grant position.
