Multi-Skilled Operator: Logistics and Warehousing

The Multi-Skilled Operator supports all production areas including, Distilling, Packaging, Barrel Room/Blending and Warehousing. Multi-Skilled Operators move between all production departments as needed and are skilled, open and flexible to working anywhere as needed. This role will focus primarily on Logistics and Warehousing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The following duties and responsibilities reflect the essential functions of the position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

All Multi-Skilled Operators must be able to perform the essential functions across the various production departments as set out below.

Packaging

Supports all aspects of the production line from staging raw materials to warehousing finished goods. This work requires performing a combination of automated and manual work. The role includes, but is not limited to moving, loading and unloading pallets and other materials, supporting the packaging line and ensuring product flows smoothly, ensuring the automated line functions according to specifications, performing ongoing prep and staging of boxes and seasonal/vap packaging and conducting periodic preventative maintenance as needed. Multi-Skilled Operators must meet daily and weekly schedule requirements as set by the Packaging & Production Supervisor.

Distilling

Supports gin production process, including proofing, makes honey additions to SOP’s, filters finished batches and tinctures. Ensures gin is produced according to an established schedule. Oversees quality control at each stage of gin production in accordance with established procedures and collaborates with the Lead Distiller, Logistics & Barrel Manager and Production Director to prevent/resolve quality issues. Operates boiler, stills, pumps, and mashing equipment; maintains sound understanding of the botanical extraction still and operates stills with supervision. Multi-Skilled Operators must meet daily and weekly schedule requirements as set by the Distilling & Production Supervisor.

Barrel Room/Blending

Supports barrel-aging process and blending, including batch selection, barrel hydration, pulling samples, filling and racking barrels, operating density meter, cleaning and maintaining equipment. Performs product testing and analysis to identify and achieve process efficiencies and improve product quality.Works closely with Quality Assurance and R&D functions to develop sensory testing and calibration techniques. Operates and maintains the barrel-aged product work environment, workflow, storage and waste. Performs sanitation tasks between and during each interval of the process. Prepares reports, spreadsheets and other data systems as they pertain to barrel aged spirits production. Maintains records as required pertaining to distillation, blending, tasting, barrel filling and racking. Collaborates with the Lead Distiller and Production Manager to streamline processes, improve systems, and increase efficiency within the scope of barrel management. Multi-Skilled Operators must meet daily and weekly schedule requirements as set by the Barrel Room & Production Supervisor.

Warehousing

Supports all aspects of materials flow, and is accountable for control over and accuracy of all goods inventories, all materials transactions, procurement, scheduling, cost, warehouse management, receiving, and shipping to ensure that customer orders are fulfilled according to schedule. Loads and unloads trucks, packs orders for internal and external customers. Supports inventory count process and identifies discrepancies in inventory and takes corrective action to proactively address and prevent future discrepancies. Accurately maintains records related to finished goods and raw material transactions. Orders raw materials and provides input on stocking levels, min/max quantities, reorder points. Implements visual management and standard work concepts to improve safety, identify workflow improvements and manage space effectively. Maintains customer delivery schedules, identifies, and communicates potential late deliveries or other relevant concerns. Coordinate and work with internal customers including, quality, sales, marketing, and production operations to ensure 100% on-time shipping by establishing and monitoring schedules to proactively identify and address any issues. Monitors material inventories, tracks progress of production and reviews factors that affect schedules. Multi-Skilled Operators must meet daily and weekly schedule requirements as set by the Warehouse & Production Supervisor.

• Must be able to have the flexibility and skills to move between departments to minimize bottlenecks, as needed or as assigned.
• Accommodates last minute and planned changes in production and provides support for quality aspects and initiatives.
• Ability to self-direct and anticipate needs of the various departments.

• Ensures that problems, errors and/or defects that surface in regard to products, documentation, procedures or materials are promptly brought to attention for correction.

• Has the ability to stop or change a process if it is not achieving planned results.
• Operates dolly’s, forklifts, power jacks, and all other types of industrial vehicles and equipment.
• Maintains the highest quality standards in the execution of all assigned work.
• Maintains all reports and recordkeeping as required.
• Maintains housekeeping in all work areas.
• Performs other duties as assigned and as required following production flow and/or plant needs.

What we are looking for

Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the skills, knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.

Preferred: 2 years of experience in packaging, shipping, warehouse labor, and/or production/manufacturing. Forklift operation certification.

• Ability to work according to verbal and written instructions and in accordance with established policies and practices.

• Manual dexterity to handle product containers.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds with two people, bend, reach, stand for extended periods of time, sit for extended periods of time.
