Position: Summer Grounds and Maintenance
Location: District Wide
Reports To: Operations Supervisor
Work Year: Part Time 28.75 hrs./week (Temporary-June 8 through August 12, 2026)
Monday through Friday 7am - 12:45 pm
Salary Range: Per district Operations contract.
- June 8 through June 30 - $15.66 hr
- July 1 through August 12 - $17.83 hr
Summary
- Grounds: Weeding, trimming, placement of mulch, area cleanup, and “campus beautification” at all school district locations.
- Maintenance: Assist maintenance with tasks, including roof drain cleanout, and roof debris cleaning.
- Customer Service: Support the department and district staff with moves, deliveries, and services.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Perform many of the basic tasks that our grounds and maintenance department performs, prioritizing work that needs to be done.
- Operates a wide variety of basic grounds machinery, hand and powered tools for the purpose of maintaining the district grounds and buildings.
- Application of fertilizer, and/or chemical weed and disease control under the supervision of the Grounds staff.
- Deliver and move a wide variety of products and items throughout the district.
- Additional duties as directed by the Operations Supervisor and/or the Executive Director of Operations and Transportation.
- Must be a team player and supportive of the overall goals of the Operations Department and Caledonia Community Schools.
Employment Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
Current certification / knowledge base desirable:
- A CDL license is not required but would be preferable.
Physical Demands:
Mental/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors include but are not limited to: Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, heavy lifting, and carrying. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures. Frequent district wide travel.
Must be able to exert up to 75 pounds of force frequently, and/or 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Required the ability to climb and maneuver on ladders, scaffolding and/or in tight spaces.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but occasionally high depending upon the student population and activities. The employee may be exposed to a variety of conditions including: wet or humid, work near moving parts, work in high precarious places, a variety of cleaning agents, some hazardous chemicals and fumes, outdoor weather conditions, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee may be exposed to bodily fluids and blood borne pathogens.
